Your contributions are urgently needed to help build the Monastery of the Virgin Mary the Consolatory! Since its foundation in 1993, over two dozen Sisters have dedicated themselves to preserving the traditions of female Orthodox monasticism. While the Monastery has thrived in various areas such as agriculture, cheesemaking, and iconography, the 28 Sisters continue to face the challenge of living and working in cramped quarters.
As a result, the construction of new rooming facilities for our Sisters remains the Monastery's top priority. This long-term project was initiated in 2009 and recently resumed despite numerous setbacks and the pandemic.
By God's grace, we have managed to close off and secure the building's steel structure and recently installed the roof. We are also thrilled to announce that His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios has generously donated $1M to this building project, and are equally moved by our brethren's contributions, support, and show of love toward the Monastery and our Sisterhood following last year's urgent appeal.
With the project's next phase now underway, we are in the process of obtaining the materials required to complete the building's exterior, including stone, siding, windows, and doors. This most crucial phase of construction will not only preserve the building's envelope, but also leave the inside intact and allow us to proceed with the installation of its interior systems.
We are incredibly relieved by the substantial progress we've made of late, but we remain in need of your support. Indeed, your donations - whatever their size - will prove crucial in bringing the Sisters closer to a living space worthy of their daily efforts and way of life.
